We had already spent over a week traveling through the high mountains of Benguet and Mt. Province, bouncing around sharp turns, barreling past steep cliffs, when we made the journey to Auntie Rosita’s farm. Her coffee stood out in our last cupping, and we had to find a way to make a visit to this farm.
The Kalsada team has been on the ground for a few months now. Carmel arrived in the Philippines in October, I arrived in January, and the newest addition to our team, Roderick arrived just after me. Since then we have been busy meeting with shareholders, gathering samples, visiting farmers, and planning out our next steps for Kalsada. But before we cover all of the business model mumbo jumbo, I thought I’d post my most recent thoughts on our trips and cup tastings.

Kalsada’s first event was on Friday in Fort Santiago, Intramuros at Manila Transitio 1945! We shared stories from our coffee farm visits and served single-origin twelve-hour cold brew coffee from Benguet and Mountain Province.
